After working twenty years in the city, I always dreamed of raising my children in open fields, fresh clean air so we relocated our family to my step fathers 400 acre horse farm in the heart of Florida's Horse Country. Our farmhouse includes a cottage Pottery studio that we built from reclaimed barn wood salvaged here on the farm. In the absence of working in the fashion industry, I explored other outlets for supporting my family with my creative talents, from selling antiques made from salvaged materials, making jewelry and designing clothing from vintage fabrics. My true deep passion was uncovered twelve years ago after I sculptured a petal rose clay necklace that hung from a gossamer ribbon named after my daughter...that was the beginning of many great things to follow. I was thrilled to create something so pretty and different I started to sell them locally and then a national publication followed. After I spied a "For Rent" sign in the lobby of our historic opera house here in Ocala, Florida, the timing was perfect to open my fanciful boutique, Verbena. Filled with handmade treasures, stacks of vintage crates pilled up with my French Farmhouse Dishes, Pottery cups, mugs and many fresh new designs, apothecary jars brim with organic teas, artwork, frocks and fine parchments. My heart has found it's quiet corner here. Recently due to the overwhelming response and demand to my pottery, you will find me in my studio with my arms up in clay working on custom orders and creating new designs.
I am honored to be chosen in Victoria Magazine 2015 The Business of Bliss an annual special edition celebrating the talents and accomplishments of eight outstanding business women selected doing what they truly love. Thank You again for all your support. Much Love and Blessings Laura
